Bishop Auckland College
About us
As part of the North East Institute of Technology (NEIoT), Bishop Auckland College Group plays a key role in delivering specialist, high-quality education and training within the Engineering and Construction sectors. Working in close partnership with employers, the College is proud to collaborate with Kier through the Kier Employer Skills Academy, which is designed to bridge the gap between education and employment. The Academy equips learners with industry-relevant skills, practical experience, and clear progression routes into work, apprenticeships, and professional careers within the construction sector.
Employer engagement is central to the College’s approach. Advisory Boards across Construction, Machining, Maintenance, Plumbing and Welding meet regularly to shape curriculum content, respond to industry trends, and ensure provision aligns with current and future workforce needs. Learners benefit from strong links with regional and national employers including GSK, PPG, Solatron, Octric, Cummins and Morgan Sindall, alongside access to industry-standard facilities such as immersive learning environments, sustainable construction training pods, advanced manufacturing equipment, virtual and augmented reality technologies, and Industry 4.0 smart factory systems. Across the Group, learners can progress through Level 3 programmes, T Levels, apprenticeships and higher-level technical pathways up to Level 5, supporting progression into skilled employment and advanced technical roles.
