T Level in Building Services Engineering
Overview
This course is suitable for anyone wanting a career in construction, specifically in areas such as electric installation and maintenance, plumbing or heating. The T Level is designed for post-16 students and is an ideal qualification if you are intending to progress directly to employment within the building services industry, a building services apprenticeship or if you wish to further your studies at higher education level.
Teaching will include classroom, workshop, project activities and a minimum of 45 days industry placement.
In terms of assessment, students must complete the following:
Two externally set tests covering knowledge from the building services engineering core content
One employer set project covering knowledge and skills from the building services engineering core
One practical assignment made up of a number of tasks covering the knowledge and skills from the chosen occupational specialisms
A career in Building Services Engineering could be the right pathway for you if you want to be involved in technological development. Building services engineers work with and design intelligent building services systems; lighting, heating, cooling, energy management, fire systems, HVAC, control systems, Building Management Systems (BMS). If you are passionate about helping to stop climate change, building services engineers can design and implement greener systems and processes and help people to live a more sustainable life.
If you like design, work and to consult for others or you like to get out and about working with people and communities rather than being based in an office, you could also progress to a role with contractors or facilities/property management companies.
