Access to HE Diploma in Engineering - Level 3

Overview

The Access to HE Engineering Diploma prepares students wishing to progress to HNC, HND and Degree programmes in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering. Individuals with higher level skills are a shortage area in the manufacturing engineering sector. The programme will offer the first steps for learners wishing to enhance their careers in the sector or for those who are considering a change of direction in their career path.

There is an emphasis on developing learner skills, knowledge and understanding in Mathematics with 2 Level 2 units Maths (Number) and Maths (Algebra and Graphical Techniques). The units will serve to develop learner confidence in preparation for the Level 3 units Maths (Introductory Skills for HE) and Maths (Higher Skills for HE).

Student will also develop their knowledge in engineering science and principles through study of Level 3 units in Mechanical Science, Electrical Principles and Engineering Science. Where applicable assessment encompasses practical tests to generate evidence in the form of material tests and electrical/electronic experiments.

Students will develop skills in the use of Autodesk Inventor through the creation of solid models, FEA and production of components using 3D printers or CNC machine tools.

Communication Skills, Design Project, Mechanical Science, Electrical Principles, Electrical Principles, Engineering Physics, Maths (Number), Maths (Algebra and Graphical Techniques), Maths (Introductory Skills for HE), Maths (Higher Skills for HE).

Students will be able to choose their progression routes from a range of options including further study with us on an HNC/HND Engineering programme. Alternatively, learners will be able to apply for a degree level programme at other HE institutions.
