In Work Skills – Manual to Digital

Overview

The Manual to Digital module is an introduction to business improvement in the digital age, whilst gaining an understanding of the Smart Factory, learners will gather, analyse and validate data using virtual reality and business improvement tools.

Overview

• Revisiting implementation challenges of Industry 4.0 under the core elements of business improvement. Measuring the impact made adopting new technology using productivity analysis and process mapping to acknowledge and quantify the benefits generated for the full production system.

• Using the Smart Factory as a flexible system to optimise performance and self-adapting to reflect external conditions and learn from the new conditions to run fully automated or semi-automated production processes. Sensors, automations, and new technologies in the manufacturing environment are significantly improving internal processes in terms of quality, productivity, efficiency, safety, and sustainability.

• Applying business improvement techniques to map the production process, analyse repeatability and reproducibility of process elements and determine improvements that can be adopted. In this new era, the measure of process variation and central tendency, capability, process performance and statistical process control are directly linked to advanced digital systems able to collect data in real and not-real time and automatically react to input received by instruction.

• Real workshop projects, data collection and analysis will introduce learners to Industry 4.0 topics
